Cafe Campestre is on your left as you enter Balgue from the Moyogalpa or Altagracia direction. Let the bus conductor or taxi driver know where you want to get out or just look for a yellow-fronted house with the long veranda on your left.
We offer transportation services from the port to the guesthouse (see transportation options here.) Or we can meet guests at Cafe Campestre.
Ferries take cars which MUST be booked in advance. Boats take foot passengers only
The crossing takes about an hour. Either port can be used to reach us, but San José is a little closer. For guests who book our airport-to-Casa service, we will arrange a taxi to the port at San Jorge, and then meet the boat at the Ometepe port in our own transportation, so you do not need to book a car ferry.

Casa del Bosque is the white square building to the right of the big cloud!
Our farm was started 15 years ago and our restaurant followed 7 years later. Our guesthouse Casa del Bosque opened in December 2015. We have developed our business around the concept of local solutions and work towards providing long term stable employment within our rural community.
We use organic and sustainable farming techniques and local knowledge on our farm and theme our menu to what we can grow and purchase locally. Every season the range of products we produce for our restaurant grows and we enjoy testing new ideas from new products on our menus.
We offer a growing range of products to other businesses on Ometepe and recently we have started offering courses on the farm for clay oven baking and pig keeping and Butchery.
At Cafe Campestre we love curry! You'll find them well represented on our menu along with many other dishes inspired by what we can source locally and what we love to eat. We have abundant fresh organic salad and great smoothies. We prepare fresh food every day and we offer a wide range of options and local beverages.
